Соединеніе двухъ ромейскихъ державъ подъ однимъ скипетромъ сдѣлало бы императора Николая Александровича фигурой поистинѣ вселенскихъ масштабовъ. Послѣ такого въ пору можно было мечтать и о возстановленіи Римской имперіи, можетъ быть и въ историческихъ границахъ.
А что, если Романовъ (Ρομάνοφ) — это Ρωμάνων, то есть Ρωμαίων? Не вознамѣрился ли Николай ΙΙ стать Римскимъ Императоромъ на самомъ дѣлѣ? Боюсь, эту тайну Императоръ унёсъ съ собой на тотъ свѣтъ.
