For reals, there is so much misinformation about chakras/Kundalini out there you may as well discard the concept. Forget about them.

Life is lived via levels of Comprehension. Knowledge and Understanding will transform you more than pain ever will. But only if you allow it.

Ah yes, the consciousness divide. So yes technically it's correct you can do that. As long as you have some skill in "auto-suggestion". Your subconsciousness can actually make mistakes or have contrary desires to Normal daily consciousness, hence why your Normal Consciousness can/needs to learn to guide and direct it.

In a gay way this is what everyone in the modern "manifesting" scene is actually trying to do.

And it's why some people always fail and others seem to have an "Existential Power" behind them that makes life easy for them.

What Occultists are trying to do is slightly different though. What we want is the "Conjunction" of the Alchemist's. That is we don't want there to even be a divide. No Consciousness OR Subconscious. Just One thing. A secret third thing. It'll no longer be Normal Human Consciousness. Nor will it be "sub" or "un" consciousness, because it will be a part of our Cognition from then on. This is the true aim of Initiation, to transform the subterranean Darkness in our Psyche into "Sol Invictus" the Invincible Sun (the Sun that never sets).
