A year ago on September 19, 2023 - 1st ethnic cleansing of the 21st century was perpetrated in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh). After a year of total blockade, the Azerbaijani dictatorship attacked Artsakh civilians with methods worthy of the worst terrorist groups and weapons purchased from the US allies. 24 hours later, the small democracy, a gem of the Armenian people, was bled dry and emptied.
Tens of thousands of Armenians took the road to exile saving their lives. There are only a dozen Armenians left in Artsakh, where there were 150,000 before, with their continuous presence in the region documented for more than 2000 years. A year later most of them are still refugees, grieving the loss of their Homeland.
Today, the Azerbaijani dictatorship continues to destroy a centuries-old Armenian cultural heritage, demolishing our cemeteries, churches, and tortures dozens of Armenian civilian prisoners in its jails. And the kicker - international #COP29 will be held in November in its capital.
What international community, or democracy, or western values do we blabber about? What justice are there ever for the Armenians? We speak daily of racism, antisemitism, xenopbia and ethnic cleansing, instilling tolerance and multiculturalism , but by turning a blind eye to this event and allowing this to continue in the 21st century, we (as individuals and as nations) are no better than the perpetrators of these crimes against humanity, acting as enablers of genocide.

“Нарушая свои обязательства, вытекающие из международного гуманитарного права, Армения отказывается предоставить информацию о судьбе лиц, пропавших без вести в Первой Карабахской войне, и точном местонахождении массовых захоронений. Армения должна извиниться за все эти преступления.
Как сообщает Axar.az, об этом говорится в обращении Президента Азербайджана Ильхама Алиева к участникам Международного Бакинского форума на тему «Изменение климата и права человека: роль омбудсменов и национальных правозащитных институтов».
«Хотя конфликт завершился, к сожалению, тяжелые последствия тридцатилетней военной агрессии Армении все еще сохраняются, создавая большую угрозу для жизни людей и окружающей среды. Армения, совершая экоцид, урбицид и культуроцид на наших территориях, которые долгое время держала под оккупацией, загрязняла и отравляла наши земли и реки, уничтожала наши леса, разрушала наши города и села, а также заложила многочисленные мины, которые угрожают праву людей жить здесь и наносят серьезный ущерб окружающей среде. Hi guys! After 9 years since my very first political run and my very first political victory as a newbie, I’m running for my 4th term on the Westbrook City Councilor as a Democratic candidate for Ward 3! It’s been a long and worthwhile road of learning, listening and voting with my heart for what is right! In 9 years I have been President, Vice President (twice), Chair of the Finance Committee and more. I’ve worked on the Council through many obstacles (COVID!) and changes in the city and I’m proud of what we have accomplished. We have a beautiful heart here in Westbrook and it shows - people want to live here and be part of our community.
As a former child refugee, working mom of two who paid and worked my way to everything I have achieved, as a person with severe medical issues, I have not let these things stop my desire to be the best I can be and serve my community in the process, a community that is vibrant and diverse, welcoming and active.
The campaign kicked off and I will be coming to your doors this weekend!

A big team of us campaigned Saturday and visited my constituents in Ward 3 almost all day until the kids had their home WHS marching band competition in the evening. My husband John was canvassing with me as he always does. Beautiful weather, great friends, gorgeous partner, talented and wonderful kids who got near perfect scores.❤️ I thank God for all I have daily. #westbrookmaine

This week in Yerevan, I had a pleasure of meeting with the Republic of Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Armen Gasparyan. We discussed potential collaboration to implement Anna Astvatsaturian Foundation’s future initiatives.
I reported to the Ministry the Foundation’s current programs, including our widely successful newborn initiative, Ser Artsakh. Since its launch on June 1, 2022 every Artsakhtsi child discharged from the maternity hospital was gifted with a care package filled with 25 quality items necessary for the mother and child for the first six months of life.
We delivered these boxes before, during and after the brutal blockade of 120,000 Armenian civilians by Azerbaijan. During the blockade we worked with the International Red Cross to enter the blockaded Artsakh in order to deliver baby supplies, medicines and formula, until Artsakh was bombed out and completely ethnically cleansed of all Armenians by Azerbaijan in September 2023. After their exodus Anna Astvatsaturian Foundation worked to supply the Armenian refugees with necessary items to survive in Armenia. All that is possible because of our loyal and passionate donors.
Because of them, the Foundation was able to help 3000 Artsakh babies and their families. In light of the current geopolitical situation in the region, we discussed a collaboration with the ministry and the Foundation’s continuation of the programs in different provinces, initially in the Syunik marz.
The Deputy Minister welcomed these future plans of the Foundation and expressed willingness to support the Foundation’s initiatives that are vital to the mother and child. Learn more at:
