Axial turn, while not simultaneous, did occur in many ancient societies when they were shaken by wars (like Greece) or foreign influence (usual result of wars). A more fitting term would be an Atheistic turn, but that would require a return to the original meaning of atheism. Outright denial of any and all divinity is modern. Past atheism had other forms like replacing gods with abstractions e.g. in abrahamic cults it’s forbidden to depict god in human-like form (christians break this rule being mentally quite Pagan).

Romans considered jews and christians atheists. Ancient Greek law prosecuted philosophers as such even though most of them referred to divines in their writing.

Monotheism, henotheism as well as non-fundamental (non-literal) polytheism are just early stages of atheism, like a virus not having full power right away.
