Essex shopping centre to be used to house homeless families from London
Councillor Bateman said, "The units would not be fit for purpose to house the homeless and their families from Basildon, let alone anyone from London.
We need to be taking care of our local people first, and provide them with appropriate accommodation which wont effect any Greenbelt land sites.
Basildon council should take a long hard look at themselves, they really should, it's terrible what they are doing."
