Convicted of murder by an all-white jury after only 10 minutes in court, Stinney was completely innocent. He was accused of killing two missing white girls.
It took seven decades until the court recognized that he was deprived of due process and that his alleged confession was not credible.

But it also offers open channels that enable a single user, or a group of users, to communicate with large numbers in a method similar to a Twitter account. This has proven to be both a blessing and a curse for Telegram and its users, since these channels can be used for both good and ill. Right now, as Wired reports, the app is a key way for Ukrainians to receive updates from the government during the invasion. The fake Zelenskiy account reached 20,000 followers on Telegram before it was shut down, a remedial action that experts say is all too rare. False news often spreads via public groups, or chats, with potentially fatal effects.
