مطالعه‌ای جدید نشان داد که رنگ نارنجی در گربه‌ها با یک حذف (Deletion) ۵.۱ کیلوبازی در ژن ARHGAP36 روی کروموزوم X مرتبط است. این ژن مسیر ملانین سیاه را مهار کرده و تولید فیوملانین نارنجی را تقویت می‌کند. پس از توالی‌یابی کل ژنوم (WGS) و نهایتا بررسی ژنوم ۱۸ گربه انتخاب شده و اندازه گیری بیان ژن آنها با روش RNA-seq، نشان داد که این حذف ژنی ۱۰۰٪ با رنگ نارنجی ارتباط دارد (P = 2.2e−16). متیلاسیون DNA تأیید کرد که غیرفعال‌سازی تصادفی کروموزوم X باعث ایجاد الگوی موزاییکی در ماده‌ها می‌شود.همچنین تحلیل تطبیقی نشان داد که این مکانیسم در انسان و موش نیز دیده می‌شود. این پژوهش، ARHGAP36 را به‌عنوان O-locus گربه‌های خانگی شناسایی و نقش آن را در رنگ‌بندی گربه‌ها مشخص کرد.

A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts.
