The Camauro and the Winter Mozzetta | The Inspiration Behind Santa’s Suit

The Camauro and the Winter Mozzetta are papal vestments that date back to the dark ages, originating somewhere between the 12th and 14th centuries. The Papal Camauro is a cap made from either red wool or more commonly, red velvet, with white ermine trim. The Winter Mozzetta is a cape worn by the Pope made of red velvet and trimmed with white ermine fur. These two garments were often paired together by Popes and bear an unmistakable striking resemblance to modern depictions of “Santa’s Suit. Furthermore, the man who is actually credited with creating the modern image of Santa Claus in his red suit is a man by the name of Thomas Nast, a Cartoonist for Harper’s Weekly. Nast just so happened to come from an Irish Roman Catholic family, was baptized in the Catholic Church of Sankt Maria, and was educated in Catholic schools.

During this “Christmas” Season just remember that Santa Claus is dressed like the Pope!

One thing that Telegram now offers to all users is the ability to “disappear” messages or set remote deletion deadlines. That enables users to have much more control over how long people can access what you’re sending them. Given that Russian law enforcement officials are reportedly (via Insider) stopping people in the street and demanding to read their text messages, this could be vital to protect individuals from reprisals. "He has to start being more proactive and to find a real solution to this situation, not stay in standby without interfering. It's a very irresponsible position from the owner of Telegram," she said. "He has kind of an old-school cyber-libertarian world view where technology is there to set you free," Maréchal said. The Security Service of Ukraine said in a tweet that it was able to effectively target Russian convoys near Kyiv because of messages sent to an official Telegram bot account called "STOP Russian War."
