Дыховичного это совпадение так поразило, что вскоре он написал стихотворение, а композитор Сигизмунд Кац положил его на музыку. На радио новую песню посчитали слишком легкомысленной – шел тяжелый 1941-й год – но все-таки дали в эфир. Когда “Двух Максимов” начали выпускать на пластинках, пришлось сменить три матрицы для их изготовления, они быстро изнашивались – спрос на песню был очень большой.
