Традиция празднования старого Нового года зародилась после перехода на григорианский календарь в 1918 году. До этого Российская империя жила по юлианскому календарю, а Европа — по григорианскому. Разница между двумя системами исчисления составляла 13 дней. Чтобы установить одинаковое исчисление, власти приняли решение перейти на григорианский календарь. Православная церковь не согласилась со сменой летоисчисления и продолжила жить по юлианскому календарю. Поэтому на момент общепринятого празднования Нового года 1 января в православии приходится время поста перед Рождеством. Первый раз старый Новый год отметили на следующий год после перехода на другую систему летоисчисления — в ночь с 13 на 14 января 1919 года.

These entities are reportedly operating nine Telegram channels with more than five million subscribers to whom they were making recommendations on selected listed scrips. Such recommendations induced the investors to deal in the said scrips, thereby creating artificial volume and price rise. Investors took profits on Friday while they could ahead of the weekend, explained Tom Essaye, founder of Sevens Report Research. Saturday and Sunday could easily bring unfortunate news on the war front—and traders would rather be able to sell any recent winnings at Friday’s earlier prices than wait for a potentially lower price at Monday’s open.
