Евтюхина вступила в бой со значительно превосходящим по численности отрядом чеченских боевиков и арабских наёмников, руководимых Хаттабом, под Аргуном в Чечне, на рубеже Улус-Керт — Сельментаузен, на высоте 776.
В ходе боя погибли 84 российских военнослужащих и около 500 террористов. 22 солдатам 6-й роты было присвоено звание Героя России (из них 21 — посмертно). 68 солдат и офицеров роты награждены орденами Мужества (63 из них — посмертно).
