По словам главы авиакомпании Месфина Тасева Бекеле, эфиопский перевозчик планирует заказать 20 самолётов (10 твёрдых заказов и 10 опционов) для замены части своих 30 турбовинтовых Dash 8. Рассматриваются модели E190-E2 или A220-100 вместимостью 110-130 кресел.
Сейчас флот Ethiopian Airlines состоит преимущественно из самолётов Boeing, за исключением широкофюзеляжных A350 и турбовинтовых Dash 8, производство которых уже прекращено.
