أنه حصل حسب تعبير بعض الأصدقاء (ضربة خلاط) لعدد من السادة الجزائرية فهناك خبر وفاة -وهو للسيد علي محمد وليس محمد علي- وتم تناقله على أن السيد إمام الجمعة هو من توفي وقد انتشر الخبر (المضروب) بشكل كبير.
وأيضاً كان بعضهم يظن أن الشرح المزجي هو للسيد محمد علي المروّج وأنه باشتماله على شرح المكاسب المحرمة قد أراد تكملة شرح والده (هدى الطالب) ! ولكن الصحيح هو أنه للسيد محمد علي آل غفور كما هو مكتوب على غلافه!
