It was def a plane. Based on the first videos I thought it was a missile but saw that close up one and heard the engines. I have a background in aviation as it was my family business my entire life until 2014.

NEW: Large protest in National City, CA with hundreds of people waving Mexican flags turns violent as some start vandalizing property.

The protesters appear to love Mexico enough to wave the flags but not enough to live there considering they are 15 min from the border.

The protesters, who blocked traffic, were lashing out against Trump's deportation operation against illegal aliens.

Police were forced to break up the protest after deeming it "unlawful."

The jet was on a medical transport trip, heading to Tijuana, Mexico, with a short stop-over in Missouri. It was carrying a child patient and her mother, along with two pilots, a doctor and paramedic. They were all Mexican nationals.

But just one minute after take-off, the Learjet 55 plummeted to the ground. Videos show the plane coming down quickly and sparking a huge fireball.

Nineteen others were injured, though Mayor Cherelle Parker said that number could still change.

Flight logs show the plane was in the air "for only a minute" before it crashed, Mayor Parker said.

The girl being transported to Mexico had just finished medical treatment for a life-threatening illness at Shriners Children's Hospital in Philadelphia.

In a statement, President Donald Trump said his administration was "totally engaged".

"So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More innocent souls lost," he said.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she "mourns the passing of six Mexicans in the aviation accident", in a statement translated from Spanish.

More than 1,100 employees at the Environmental Protection Agency received notice this week that they were deemed to be on probationary status and warning they could be fired immediately, according to an email obtained by CNN.

Probationary employees receiving the email have been working at the agency for less than a year. The emails began to go out on late Wednesday afternoon, according to an EPA union official.

The same message will be sent to other agency workforces, a White House official said. Across the US government, the latest data shows there are more than 220,000 employees on probation.
