В ходе расследования силовики выявили дополнительные эпизоды коррупции в ведомстве - Попов вымогал треть от полученной взятки с подчиненного ему инженера Ивана Рудика, который впоследствии и сдал бывшего начальника, что позволило ему сохранить свободу, отделавшись штрафом в 3 млн рублей.
