Джефф Безос и Билл Гейтс инвестируют в нейроинтерфейсную компанию Synchron
Компания невролога Тома Оксли Синхрон сегодня объявила о получении инвестиций в размере 75 миллионов долларов от группы инвесторов, среди которых Bezos Expeditions и Gates Frontier.
Синхрон разрабатывает новую, умеренно инвазивную технологию регистрации сигналов мозга с помощью эндоваскулярных групп электродов собственной конструкции -- стентродов, подводимые к месту регистрации через крупные вены. Стентроды используются в интерфейсе мозг-компьютер Синхрона, испытания которого на людях начались в Австралии уже более двух лет назад. В этом году были разрешены и уже начались клинические испытания в США. Тем самым Оксли серьезно опередил Илона Маска, компания которого Нейралинк (Neuralink) все еще не может даже приблизиться к получению разрешения FDA.

The cash brings Synchron’s total funding to US$145 million. That places it behind Elon Musk’s Neuralink and Max Hodak’s Science on fundraising, according to research firm Pitchbook, but far ahead of most other BCI companies.
Investors had a burst of enthusiasm for BCI startups in 2021, with some 49 deals attracting US$568 million of investment, according to Pitchbook.

Synchron, the endovascular brain-computer interface (BCI) company, announced today an oversubscribed $75 million Series C financing round led by ARCH Venture Partners. Gates Frontier, Bezos Expeditions, Reliance Digital Health Limited, Greenoaks, Alumni Ventures, Moore Strategic Ventures, and Project X join ARCH as new additional investors. Existing investors, including Khosla Ventures, NeuroTechnology Investors, METIS, Forepont Capital Partners, ID8 Investments, Shanda Group and University of Melbourne participated in the round.
