Henoticus serratus (Gyllenhal, 1808) #Cryptophagidae – широко распространенный в Палеарктике вид скрытноедов. Мицетофаг, связан с разложившимися субстратами и грибами, для переноса которых этот вид имеет на заднегруди специальные углубления (микангии) [рисунок по: Göran Sahlén in Wikars, 1997]. Так жуки подготавливают (инокулируют) "грибную рассаду" на новом месте, например, на поврежденных или погоревших деревьях.

В целом же жук встречается очень в разнообразных местах: на болотах, в гнездах птиц и норах млекопитающих, в пещерах, в древесине и т.д. #экология
