- 3 февраля 1908 года родился Николай Федорович Цыганов – талантливый конструктор-самоучка. Его деятельность в 1930-е годы оказала заметное влияние на развитие отечественных колесно-гусеничных танков.

- В ночь с 3 на 4 февраля 1943 года десантный отряд майора Цезаря Куникова высадился на укреплённом побережье у села Мысхако, так называемой Малой земле. Героическая оборона продолжалась 225 дней и завершилась полным освобождением Новороссийска.

- 80 лет назад, 3 февраля 1945 года, завершилась Висло-Одерская операция - одно из самых успешных наступлений Красной Армии во время Великой Отечественной войны.

- 3 февраля 1956 года принято постановление ЦК КПСС и Совмина СССР «О противоракетной обороне».
