قالَ أبو سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه: فَذَكَرَ رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مِن أَصْنَافِ المَالِ ما ذَكَرَ، حتَّى رَأَيْنَا أنَّهُ لا حَقَّ لأَحَدٍ مِنَّا في فَضْل.

وقال الأوباش: من كان له فضل زاد فليطرد السوري والسوداني الذي يعمل ويأكل من عمل يده لأنه يرفع الإيجارات.
— وهاجر عبد الرحمن بن عوف إلى المدينة فقال له سعد بن الربيع: هلُمَّ أقاسِمُك مالي نصفين.
