22 июля, во время парусной тренировки на реке Кострома, Кирилл с тренером и другими детьми заметили, что поблизости, женщина, пытавшаяся переплыть реку, начала тонуть. Они немедленно направили туда лодку, вытащили её на борт и доставили на берег. За этот поступок Кирилл был награждён на «Форуме юных героев», состоявшемся 8–9 декабря в Москве.
