Meanwhile, the company which owns Telegram is registered in the British Virgin Islands. Although some channels have been removed, the curation process is considered opaque and insufficient by analysts. In December 2021, Sebi officials had conducted a search and seizure operation at the premises of certain persons carrying out similar manipulative activities through Telegram channels. On Feb. 27, however, he admitted from his Russian-language account that "Telegram channels are increasingly becoming a source of unverified information related to Ukrainian events."
