For a long time, I did not write anything on Facebook. It is time now. In 2019 a group of enthusiasts of history of mathematics Nikita Kalinin, Galina Sinkevich, Dmitriy Stolyarov and I started to work on a project on history of mathematics related to St. Petersburg. The project was intended to be completed for the ICM-2022. Because of the well-known sad events, this project is still in progress. We are close to finishing it, but we are also running out of resources. You can find the first 150 pages of this book here:
As of now the book has nearly 500 pages. We need volunteers who can do proofreading. We understand that to do it for the whole text is a gigantic task. But if you can proofread one or two articles, that would be of a huge help. If you are willing to do this, please send an email to ( mathspbthm at gmail.com ). We will send you the source file.

Just days after Russia invaded Ukraine, Durov wrote that Telegram was "increasingly becoming a source of unverified information," and he worried about the app being used to "incite ethnic hatred." After fleeing Russia, the brothers founded Telegram as a way to communicate outside the Kremlin's orbit. They now run it from Dubai, and Pavel Durov says it has more than 500 million monthly active users. A Russian Telegram channel with over 700,000 followers is spreading disinformation about Russia's invasion of Ukraine under the guise of providing "objective information" and fact-checking fake news. Its influence extends beyond the platform, with major Russian publications, government officials, and journalists citing the page's posts. Russian President Vladimir Putin launched Russia's invasion of Ukraine in the early-morning hours of February 24, targeting several key cities with military strikes. If you initiate a Secret Chat, however, then these communications are end-to-end encrypted and are tied to the device you are using. That means it’s less convenient to access them across multiple platforms, but you are at far less risk of snooping. Back in the day, Secret Chats received some praise from the EFF, but the fact that its standard system isn’t as secure earned it some criticism. If you’re looking for something that is considered more reliable by privacy advocates, then Signal is the EFF’s preferred platform, although that too is not without some caveats.
