По данным Федорова, причиной увольнения стали «дезинформация и введение в заблуждение командования». Автор телеграм-канала «Рыбарь» утверждает, что смена командования группировки «Юг» стала следствием проблем на северском направлении.
Официально ни о назначении Анашкина, ни о его увольнении российское Минобороны не сообщало.
