Dienstag, 13.12.2022 – Köln Ein herzliches Hallo und Willkommen bei Mein Ostblog. Mein Name ist Carina und am Ende des Jahres wandere ich von meinem Heimatland Deutschland aus nach Russland. Zusammen mit meinem Mann, der gebürtig aus Moskau ist, machen wir uns auf die aufregende Reise hinein in einen neuen Lebensabschnitt, welcher in Moskau beginnen wird. Für meine Familie und Freunde, aber auch Bekannte und -in Kürze auch- ehemalige Arbeitskollegen, möchte ich mit Mein Ostblog eine Möglichkeit schaffen, mich ein Stück weit in meine neue Heimat zu begleiten und diese auch kennenzulernen. Ich freue mich, wenn Mein Ostblog zukünftig vielleicht auch für weitere Menschen interessant wird, denn meine Intention ist es das schöne Land Russland, mit all seinen Facetten und warmherzigen Einwohnern, den Menschen in Deutschland und natürlich gerne auch in anderen Ländern, näherzubringen. Viele haben heute tatsächlich keine, oder nur klischeehafte Vorstellungen von Russland. Denn Nein, es ist nicht immer nur kalt. Also, los geht’s.

Telegram has become more interventionist over time, and has steadily increased its efforts to shut down these accounts. But this has also meant that the company has also engaged with lawmakers more generally, although it maintains that it doesn’t do so willingly. For instance, in September 2021, Telegram reportedly blocked a chat bot in support of (Putin critic) Alexei Navalny during Russia’s most recent parliamentary elections. Pavel Durov was quoted at the time saying that the company was obliged to follow a “legitimate” law of the land. He added that as Apple and Google both follow the law, to violate it would give both platforms a reason to boot the messenger from its stores. These entities are reportedly operating nine Telegram channels with more than five million subscribers to whom they were making recommendations on selected listed scrips. Such recommendations induced the investors to deal in the said scrips, thereby creating artificial volume and price rise. The original Telegram channel has expanded into a web of accounts for different locations, including specific pages made for individual Russian cities. There's also an English-language website, which states it is owned by the people who run the Telegram channels. The S&P 500 fell 1.3% to 4,204.36, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.7% to 32,943.33. The Dow posted a fifth straight weekly loss — its longest losing streak since 2019. The Nasdaq Composite tumbled 2.2% to 12,843.81. Though all three indexes opened in the green, stocks took a turn after a new report showed U.S. consumer sentiment deteriorated more than expected in early March as consumers' inflation expectations soared to the highest since 1981. At this point, however, Durov had already been working on Telegram with his brother, and further planned a mobile-first social network with an explicit focus on anti-censorship. Later in April, he told TechCrunch that he had left Russia and had “no plans to go back,” saying that the nation was currently “incompatible with internet business at the moment.” He added later that he was looking for a country that matched his libertarian ideals to base his next startup.
