10 января оперштаб Краснодарского края заявлял, что из-за экологической катастрофы на побережье Черного моря пострадали не менее 6 тысяч птиц, около 3 тысяч из них погибли. Научный руководитель профильного института РАН назвал разлив мазута в Черном море крупнейшей экологической катастрофой XXI века.
