На купол церкви Петра и Павла на Синичьей горе в Великом Новгороде был установлен крест, сообщил губернатор Андрей Никитин в своём официальном Телеграм-канале. В сопровождении митрополита Новгородского и Старорусского Льва, глава региона принял участие в торжественной церемонии освящения креста.
По словам губернатора, в ходе реставрационных работ в церкви Петра и Павла были обнаружены мощи преподобной Харитины Литовской, что было признано историческим событием. – Харитина Литовская – святая Русской православной церкви, – рассказал он. – Преподобная Харитина происходила из княжеского рода. Из-за смут на свой родине переселилась с другими знатными литовцами на Русь. С юности решила посвятить себя Богу и приняла постриг в Новгородском женском монастыре в честь святых апостолов Петра и Павла на Синичьей горе. После многих лет подвижнической жизни она стала игуменией этого монастыря. Сейчас её мощи находятся в Свято-Юрьевом мужском монастыре.
