"An ardent non-systemic opposition figure"*. Who is Vladimir Zolotarev?

Vladimir Zolotarev is a 50-year-old taxi driver from Komsomolsk-on-Amur, who became known after June 4, when he set fire to the National Guard building in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in protest against the military invasion of Ukraine. He was charged with “attempt to commit a terrorist act” (part 3 of article 30, part 1 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Earlier, in the spring, a criminal case had already been opened against Vladimir for “inflicting non-life-threatening violence against a representative of the authorities” (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). So, on March 12, traffic police officers stopped Zolotarev. Being emotionally tense due to the events in Ukraine, Vladimir spoke sharply about the policemen — as representatives of the authorities that unleashed this war. In response, the police began to twist Zolotarev. According to investigators, at that moment Vladimir hit the police lieutenant with the back of the head (!) Also at that time, cans of gasoline and a crowbar were found in the trunk of Zolotarev’s car, which later served as the basis for allegations that he was preparing attacks on the departments of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the presentation of another charge — in “preparing to commit a terrorist act” (part 1 article 30, part 1 article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Then, in March, Vladimir was placed under house arrest, which he violated in order to carry out his action.

On the charges against him, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

Vladimir partially admits his guilt on the charges — he admits the fact of a blow by a policeman, but not intentional. He considers it absurd that his actions are characterized as "preparation and attempt to commit terrorist acts."

“All of Russia, in a symbolic sense, is now on fire,” Zolotarev said of his act. It is worth noting that Vladimir from the first day of the war opposed it, and before that he went to rallies in support of Alexei Navalny.

Zolotarev's personality is quite multifaceted and amazing: he is very interested in the world of science, especially anthropology, astronomy and physics. Also, he opposes cruelty to animals and gradually refuses the products of their exploitation. Recently, Vladimir became interested in the topic of feminism.

In February 2014, the Ukrainian people ousted pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych, prompting Russia to invade and annex the Crimean peninsula. By the start of April, Pavel Durov had given his notice, with TechCrunch saying at the time that the CEO had resisted pressure to suppress pages criticizing the Russian government. Also in the latest update is the ability for users to create a unique @username from the Settings page, providing others with an easy way to contact them via Search or their t.me/username link without sharing their phone number. "We're seeing really dramatic moves, and it's all really tied to Ukraine right now, and in a secondary way, in terms of interest rates," Octavio Marenzi, CEO of Opimas, told Yahoo Finance Live on Thursday. "This war in Ukraine is going to give the Fed the ammunition, the cover that it needs, to not raise interest rates too quickly. And I think Jay Powell is a very tepid sort of inflation fighter and he's not going to do as much as he needs to do to get that under control. And this seems like an excuse to kick the can further down the road still and not do too much too soon." Apparently upbeat developments in Russia's discussions with Ukraine helped at least temporarily send investors back into risk assets. Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko that there were "certain positive developments" occurring in the talks with Ukraine, according to a transcript of their meeting. Putin added that discussions were happening "almost on a daily basis." Although some channels have been removed, the curation process is considered opaque and insufficient by analysts.
