Должно быть калькой с греческого, подумал я, нашёл — ἐκδιώκω. Никакого отношения к женам. Кажется, изгоню - изжену — это просто замены в корне гон/жен. Даже жден бывает — гнѣвъ ижденемъ, уныніе изринемъ. Ещё гугл забавно транслитерировал ἐκδιώκω, см принтскрины.

Хорошо, а откуда слова жена? Что-то праславянское, мб связано с γυνή (гюно). В общем, тоже замены жен/гн возможны.

Итого: нет никакой связи. Разные "жн/гн", разные корни.
