"Тюменька" узнала, что мы встречаем Новый год одновременно с солнечными Мальдивами. Помимо лёгкой зависти, это и немного вдохновляет. Хочется, чтобы в 2025-м году у нас с этой прекрасной островной страной было чуть больше общего. Так же тепло у нас, конечно, не будет. Индийский океан к Туре, надеемся, не подступит. Как и любой другой. Но спокойствия и доброжелательности, к которым располагают райские острова, мы вполне можем себе добавить даже в наших нежарких краях. Жить станет комфортнее всем. В отличие от многих других вещей, немножко сострадания и взаимного уважения добавить мы всегда можем. Этого мы и вам и пожеланием.

The last couple days have exemplified that uncertainty. On Thursday, news emerged that talks in Turkey between the Russia and Ukraine yielded no positive result. But on Friday, Reuters reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin said there had been some “positive shifts” in talks between the two sides. Pavel Durov, Telegram's CEO, is known as "the Russian Mark Zuckerberg," for co-founding VKontakte, which is Russian for "in touch," a Facebook imitator that became the country's most popular social networking site. This ability to mix the public and the private, as well as the ability to use bots to engage with users has proved to be problematic. In early 2021, a database selling phone numbers pulled from Facebook was selling numbers for $20 per lookup. Similarly, security researchers found a network of deepfake bots on the platform that were generating images of people submitted by users to create non-consensual imagery, some of which involved children. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram. Official government accounts have also spread fake fact checks. An official Twitter account for the Russia diplomatic mission in Geneva shared a fake debunking video claiming without evidence that "Western and Ukrainian media are creating thousands of fake news on Russia every day." The video, which has amassed almost 30,000 views, offered a "how-to" spot misinformation.
