Смерть супруга побудила 26-летнюю вдову выбрать жизнь по имени (Ксения — «странница»): «Суеты земнаго мира отвергшися, крест жития бездомнаго во странничестве прияла еси…» (начало тропаря), «Страннице блаженная… зрим тя, стогны (то есть “площади”) града Петрова преходящи» (стихира на литии).
