Теория жанра, конечно, — дело такое, тут никто ни за что толком не сможет поручиться, но теория рецепции оставляет лазейку. Эта крошечная вещица вполне может восприниматься как эдакий концентрат: будто из тысяч страниц выпарили всё неясное, многословное, избыточное, оставив самую суть.
Вот правда, если Фолкнер или, не знаю, Франзен пугают объёмами и обещанной некоторыми там критиками сложностью, можно взять Дениса Джонсона и «насладиться весьма»(с)
