روى الحافظ بن عساكر في تاريخ دمشق بسنده عن محمد بن بُريد عن أبيه قال : لقيت أبا العتاهيةِ فقلت: مَن أشعرُ الناس؟ فقال: الشابُّ العاهر أبو نُواس حيث يقول :
أزور محمَّدًا فإذا التقينا تعاتَبت الضَّمائرُ في الصُّدورِ
فأرجعُ لم ألُمْه ولم يَلُمْني وقد قَبِل الضَّميرُ عن الضَّمير
فلقيتُ أبا نُواس فقلت: مَن أشعرُ الناس؟ فقال: الشيخُ الطاهر أبو العتاهيةِ حيث يقول: الناسُ في غَفَلاتهمْ ورحى المَنيَّة تَطْحَنُ
فقلت: من أين أخذ هذا جعلني الله فداك؟ قال: من قوله تعالى: {اقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِي غَفْلَةٍ مُعْرِضُونَ}.

Official government accounts have also spread fake fact checks. An official Twitter account for the Russia diplomatic mission in Geneva shared a fake debunking video claiming without evidence that "Western and Ukrainian media are creating thousands of fake news on Russia every day." The video, which has amassed almost 30,000 views, offered a "how-to" spot misinformation. In view of this, the regulator has cautioned investors not to rely on such investment tips / advice received through social media platforms. It has also said investors should exercise utmost caution while taking investment decisions while dealing in the securities market. As such, the SC would like to remind investors to always exercise caution when evaluating investment opportunities, especially those promising unrealistically high returns with little or no risk. Investors should also never deposit money into someone’s personal bank account if instructed.
