In the Beta version of Telegram for Android, the Channels has appeared on the search menu within the list of tabs. It displays two types of channels:
• Channels that the user has recently joined. • Recommended public channels.
It is not yet known in what order the channels are displayed in both sections and how exactly the platform decides which channels to recommend to users. It is likely that the recommendations work on the same principle as the "Similar Channels" feature, but are based on all the subscriptions of a particular user.

In early 2021, a database selling phone numbers pulled from Facebook was selling numbers for $20 per lookup. Similarly, security researchers found a network of deepfake bots on the platform that were generating images of people submitted by users to create non-consensual imagery, some of which involved children. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Tuesday that Ukrainian forces "destroy the invaders wherever we can." Pavel Durov, a billionaire who embraces an all-black wardrobe and is often compared to the character Neo from "the Matrix," funds Telegram through his personal wealth and debt financing. And despite being one of the world's most popular tech companies, Telegram reportedly has only about 30 employees who defer to Durov for most major decisions about the platform.
