Отвратительная штука жизнь. Сегодня мне выпало чистить папайю. Большая такая, выросла тут во дворе, размером с небольшую тыкву. И цвета такого же.
Когда я разрезал плод острым ножом, то сразу вспомнил первый роман Янагихары, что-то там про деревья, где отважные исследователи бродили по лесу и поедали продолговатые плоды, внутри которых гнездились неизвестного вида личинки. Чем больше личинок, тем более спелый плод.
Внутри папайи личинок не было, но были черные косточки, которые я по отложившемуся в памяти с детства завету классика выбросил в окошко.
Все засмеялись, а мне завтра — лодка, автобус, самолет, самолет, самолет, самолет, а потом Толмачево и через четыре дня первый в этом году книжный фестиваль.
Мне будет непросто. А из косточек может быть новая папайя вырастет.
