Отряд был создан 20 февраля 1991 года приказом начальника УВД. Цель создания специальной силовой структуры в составе уголовно-исполнительной системы – борьба с преступностью, предотвращение групповых противоправных действий спецконтингента, защита сотрудников УИС от преступных посягательств осужденных.
Более 100 сотрудников «Ермака» награждены наградами, в том числе правительственными, девять сотрудников имеют право на ношение крапового берета.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been a driving force in markets for the past few weeks. The regulator said it had received information that messages containing stock tips and other investment advice with respect to selected listed companies are being widely circulated through websites and social media platforms such as Telegram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. Additionally, investors are often instructed to deposit monies into personal bank accounts of individuals who claim to represent a legitimate entity, and/or into an unrelated corporate account. To lend credence and to lure unsuspecting victims, perpetrators usually claim that their entity and/or the investment schemes are approved by financial authorities. Some people used the platform to organize ahead of the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021, and last month Senator Mark Warner sent a letter to Durov urging him to curb Russian information operations on Telegram.
