The channel appears to be part of the broader information war that has developed following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But because group chats and the channel features are not end-to-end encrypted, Galperin said user privacy is potentially under threat. Russians and Ukrainians are both prolific users of Telegram. They rely on the app for channels that act as newsfeeds, group chats (both public and private), and one-to-one communication.
