The Tel Aviv Marathon gets underway this morning.
Once again Western leaders have gotten ahead of themselves, congratulating Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas for discontinuing his vile "pay-for-slay" policy before checking it he really has done so.
This week, Abbas was adamant that he will not reduce the pay-for-slay budget by even "one penny."
By the way, that money comes large from YOUR tax dollars, euros, and pounds.

The IDF today released its investigation into the October 7 Hamas terror attack - these are the key failures:
Underestimating the enemy: The assumption that the terrorist organizations in Gaza were interested in stabilization rather than a large-scale conflict led to complete surprise at the scale of the attack.
False assumptions about the ability to manage Hamas: The idea that Hamas could be contained through limited measures without having to wage a full-scale war led to inadequate preparation for the threat.
Failure to prepare for a large-scale surprise attack scenario: An attack of this magnitude was not seriously considered and was deemed unlikely, if not unrealistic.
Overreliance on physical barriers and technology: The assumption that the border barriers around Gaza and technological means would provide sufficient protection proved to be false.
Complete surprise at the scale and nature of the attack: The large number of terrorists, their speed and brutality were carefully planned by Hamas and were not anticipated.
Shattering the illusion of superior intelligence: There was a false assumption that a large-scale attack would be detected in advance through early intelligence warnings.
Low air force readiness: On the morning of the attack, the Israeli Air Force was on a low alert, delaying the required response.
Breakdown of control in the crucial hours: Between 6:30 and 12:30, the IDF had no control over the area around the Gaza Strip, which enabled most of the massacres and kidnappings to take place.
Lack of coordination among security agencies: During the night before the attack, there was insufficient communication between the Chief of General Staff, the heads of the Domestic Intelligence Service (Shin Bet) and the Military Intelligence Service (Aman). Information was not passed on to the political leadership.

These findings highlight the need for a profound change in the IDF's operational and strategic approach, a reassessment of security and defense concepts, an improvement in communication between the various actors, and an increase in operational readiness for every possible scenario.

No hostage release today.
For the first time in weeks, a Shabbat will pass with no hostage release and no transfer of slain loved ones.
The first phase of the ceasefire has ended.
Israel wants to extend the first phase and get more live hostages out of Gaza.
Hamas demands moving to phase two. Israel rejects this because it means fully withdrawing the IDF from Gaza and leaving Hamas in control.
For Israel, the war is far from over.
Difficult decisions ahead for the Israeli leadership in the coming days.

Difficult decisions ahead for the Israeli leadership in the coming days.
Hamas has rejected extending Phase 1 of the Gaza ceasefire-hostage deal. The terror group demands negotiations on Phase 2 leading to a permanent end to the war, even as it continues to hold 59 Israelis hostage and retains the ability to attack Israel in the future.
For Israel this is a red line.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly allowed for a few more days of talks not under fire, even as the IDF prepares to resume combat with overwhelming intensity.

Hamas is employing an insane level of psychological warfare against an emotionally raw Israeli society.
In this propaganda clip, hostage Eitan Horn is shown bidding farewell to his brother, Iair Horn, who was released from captivity two weeks ago.
Eitan goes on a (no doubt scripted) rant against the Israeli government, insisting it meet Hamas demands and end the war.
Eitan Horn and 58 other hostages remain in Hamas captivity.

The Prime Minister's Office responded to this clip by insisting it will not be deterred by Hamas propaganda and exploitation of the hostages.
Hamas must be destroyed.

Israel adopts the framework of US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff for a temporary ceasefire during the Ramadan and Passover period.
On the first day of the framework, half of the living and deceased hostages will be released and upon its conclusion – if agreement is reached on a permanent ceasefire – the remaining living and deceased hostages will be released.
While Israel has agreed to the Witkoff framework in order to return our hostages, Hamas has, until now, clung to its rejection of this framework.
If Hamas changes its position, Israel will immediately enter into negotiations on the overall details of the Witkoff framework.

Prime Minister's Office:
With the end of Phase 1 of the hostage deal, and in light of Hamas's refusal to accept the Witkoff outline for continuing talks - to which Israel agreed - Prime Minister Netanyahu has decided that, as of this morning, all entry of goods and supplies into the Gaza Strip will cease.
Israel will not allow a ceasefire without the release of our hostages.
If Hamas continues its refusal, there will be further consequences.

The government has also reportedly approved the call-up of 400,000 reservists if and when the IDF needs them.
❗️A dangerous situation is unfolding in Syria.
Israeli leaders warned Syria's new jihadist rulers not to harm the Druze living in the Jaramana suburb south of Damascus.
But the jihadists are indeed attacking Jaramana.
Druze reinforcements are moving to the area, and are reportedly being covered by the Israeli Air Force.

The biggest concern is that if Israel is forced to take military action against Syria's new rulers, Turkey could intervene, leading to direct military clashes between the IDF and Turkish forces.
The BBC has issued an apology over its Gaza documentary that was narrated by the relative of a senior Hamas official.
Titled “Gaza: How To Survive A Warzone”, the piece took a sympathetic view of the Palestinians and even Hamas, while painting Israel as the aggressor in a war it didn't start.
Government officials said there would be "consequences" for the BBC, which has since removed the documentary from its platforms.

White House: Hamas is not interested in continuing the ceasefire. We will support whatever Israel decides to do.
Emily Damari, who was released from Gaza in late January, underwent a series of surgeries today to repair injuries suffered on Oct. 7, 2023 that the Palestinians did little to treat during her 471-day captivity.
Emily two middle fingers on her left hand were shot off on Oct. 7, and doctors at Gaza City's Shifa Hospital roughly sewed them up in a way that caused her considerable and incessant pain.
She also had a large festering wound on her leg that took nearly half a year to heal due to being held in unsanitary conditions underground.
Emily's mother says it is a miracle her daughter didn't die of infection while being held hostage.
