ولو كان لا يبقى إلا ببقاء جماعة من الناس بعد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؛ لبقي الصحابة وما ماتوا.
وإنما يمتحن الله الناس لينظر ما يعملون، وليعلم من يمسكون بالكتاب، ومن ينكصون.
وليموتن جميع الناس وليبعثن. ولينصرن الله دينه بعباد يعبدونه ويثبتون على دينه، يموتون على ذلك. وليس النصر ببقاء أحد، فإن الله تعالى قضى أن هذا لا يكون. وليجمعن الله الرسل يوم القيامة، وليسألن الله الذين أرسِل إليهم، وليسألن الله المرسلين.
فالثابتون حتى الموت هم المنتصرون في الدنيا والآخرة، والآخرون هم الخاسرون.
