Танк M1A2 с пушкой M256E1 (L55). В 1998 в США рассматривали возможность установки на «Абрамс» 120-мм пушки с увеличенной длиной ствола, аналогично тому, что делали в ФРГ для Леопард-2А5.
Как и в случае с Леопардом просто поставить более длинный ствол без доработки стабилизатора и других систем не вышло, да и проблем с бронепробиваемостью у американских урановых БПС не было. Поэтому это так и осталось среди забытых проектов.
