Почему дом уникален. Во-первых, возраст. Он построен в 1814 году, когда Москва восстанавливалась после Большого пожара. Во-вторых, дом деревянный. Единственная на Поварской деревянная постройка той эпохи. По нему можно представить, какой была улица в начале XIX века. Часто говорят, что в доме гостил Александр Дюма, но это неправда.
К сожалению, за последние десятилетия фасад дома был предельно упрощён. Пропали кариатиды, лепнина, дворянский герб, балкон. Дом утратил былую красоту и нуждается в реставрации. Геометка.
