В армянской географии VII века дигорцы упоминаются как западные аланы

«Ашхарацуйц», повествующий об аланах, гласит: «(Население) расположено следующим образом. С запада на восток в начале (живет) Аланский народ/племя (Аланы) Аш-Тигор (Ас-Дигор), на юге от них рядом проживают Хебуры, Кутеты, Аргвелы и Такуйры. Аланы живут по ту сторону за Дигорами (Дикорами), в крае/стране Ардоз (Ардозской равнине) Кавказских гор. Отсюда течет река Арм(н), которая, направляясь на север, через безбрежные равнины, соединяется с рекой Атл.

Анонимная армянская география Ašxarhac'oyc' (§ 7.3) уже намекает на «народ аланов Аш-Тигора» (azg Alanac Aš-Tigor)4» или, просто, «народ Дик'ор» (Dik'ori-n gen. sg.), то есть предков нынешних западных осетин (дигорцев)
