Wulf has been a prominent figure in folkish Heathenry since the 1980's, and is known for his more esoteric stance, much of which is revealed in the numerous books and blog articles he has written.

Folks, due to a scheduling oversight we will not have a Newark Roundtable episode in March. Unfortunately there was a miscommunication about vacation time and we missed our window to record this month. Please accept our sincere apologies!

We will be back in April though with the next in our series on Alain de Benoist's On Being a Pagan. Have you read this book? It's really excellent and has a lot to contribute to pagan apologetics. Now would be a good time to start into it if you haven't, so you can read along with us when we drop the next episode.

— Mike and Brunwulf
NEW EPISODE — The Outlander — On the Technology Question I

But there are certainly bad things about it—how do we navigate those? How do we stop technology from making us worse? The first step is to understand what the negative effects of technology on a folk are.

NEW EPISODE — The Outlander — Jonathan Bowden and Taking Back Our History

https://hearthfireradio.com.com/watch?v=SoDxAmQV

Imperium Press' publication of the new biography of Jonathan Bowden has been greeted with near-universal enthusiasm. But there have been a number of voices who have worried that Dutton's relentless spotlight on Bowden's life might have deflated the Bowden mythos too much. Mike addresses this concern, and folds it into a broader discussion about taking control of our own traditions and heroes, and what the function of myth really is.

Nøkken by Theodore Kittelsen in 1904, the water spirit depicted has a huge array of different depictions across various cultures.
German: Nixie Dutch: Nikker Finnish: Näkki Icelandic: Nykur Estonian: Näkk English: Neck or Nicker & more. For a creature to feature in so many different areas it must have had huge significance. The appearance might be hard to describe as they are mostly known as shapeshifters but I think Theodore did a great job. One appears in Beowulf as “Nicor” during a swimming contest. There’s many more references but I’m sure you’ve seen this picture a lot and this is the generalized lore.
Great take by Cole Wolfsson. Folklore is an incredible resource for reconstructing paganism, and one might even go so far as to say that this kind of "local but connected" approach is the basic form of archaic pagan religions.
NEW EPISODE — Neon Knights — Episode 5: Uriah Heep (with Dave Martel)

https://hearthfireradio.com.com/watch?v=sqZisQLQ

NEW EPISODE — The Outlander — What is the original myth?

https://hearthfireradio.com.com/watch?v=RXjdwgkQ

We inherit an idea of what a religion must be from the scriptural Abrahamic religions, where doctrine is cast in stone and myths are codified down to the last jot and tittle. But folk religion does not work this way. To be sure, certain things are non-negotiable, but beyond that there is a lot of room for local variation. Mike explores what it would mean to reconstruct an "ur-myth" and how possible such a thing really is.
