В этом процессе жертва получает запрос на прохождение теста или устранение некой проблемы, связанной с работой браузера. Однако, в результате выполнения этих действий на компьютер пользователя загружается вредоносное программное обеспечение, которое предназначено для кражи личных данных.
После успешной установки вредоносного ПО злоумышленники получают возможность активно «посещать» различные рекламные веб-сайты от имени жертвы. Это позволяет им зарабатывать на просмотрах рекламы, что становится источником дохода для преступников.
Наибольшее количество таких кибератак было зафиксировано в России, Бразилии, Испании и Италии.

Channels like Donbass Insider and Bellum Acta, as reported by Foreign Policy, started pumping out pro-Russian propaganda as the invasion began. So much so that the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council issued a statement labeling which accounts are Russian-backed. Ukrainian officials, in potential violation of the Geneva Convention, have shared imagery of dead and captured Russian soldiers on the platform. For example, WhatsApp restricted the number of times a user could forward something, and developed automated systems that detect and flag objectionable content.
