Впервые в стране президента избирали не прямым голосованием, а в коллегии выборщиков. В ней представлены 300 членов, 211 из которых принадлежат правящей партии.
Выборы президента считаются состоявшимися, так как в них уже приняли участие более половины состава коллегии выборщиков, сообщили в ЦИК страны.
В центре Тбилиси собрались люди в знак протеста против выборов. Подходы к зданию парламента охраняет полиция.
