Ледокол оснащен двухреакторной ядерной установкой "РИТМ-200". Тепловая мощность каждой реакторной установки составляет 175 МВт. Срок службы реакторов - 40 лет.
Ожидается, что "Якутия" будет передана заказчику - "Росатому" - до конца года.
