В 2023 году в РФ появилось новое подразделение спецслужб — Департамент специальных задач, который отвечает за убийства, диверсии и шпионаж на Западе. Об этом пишет The Wall Street Journal со ссылкой на источники в западных разведках.
По данным издания, департамент стоит за покушением на главу Rheinmetall и поджогами на складах DHL. Его приоритет — Германия, которую Кремль считает «слабым звеном НАТО» из-за зависимости от российского газа и роста пророссийских настроений.
Возглавляют подразделение генерал-полковник Андрей Аверьянов (разыскивается Чехией за взрыв на складе боеприпасов) и генерал-лейтенант Иван Касьяненко (по данным европейской разведки, причастен к отравлению Скрипалей).
У подразделения есть три основные задачи: совершение убийств и диверсий за рубежом, проникновение в западные компании и университеты, а также вербовка и обучение иностранных агентов.
