ناپایداری کوروناویروس جدید در برابر تغییر pH یکی از ادعاهای نادرست مطرح شده در مطلبی بود که به‌دروغ به دانشگاه جانز هاپکینز نسبت داده شده بود. جملات مربوط به pH آن مطلب از مقاله‌ای مربوط به نوع دیگری از کوروناویروس در سال ۱۹۹۱ کپی شده بود!
