ТМХ выполнил план 2022 года по выпуску четырёхсекционных магистральных грузовых электровозов переменного тока «Ермак» – в депо Карталы Южно-Уральской дирекции тяги был отправлен локомотив 4ЭС5К №48 – последний из партии в 6 единиц.
4ЭС5К выпускается на Новочеркасском электровозостроительном заводе (НЭВЗ, входит в состав ТМХ) с 2014 года, входит в число наиболее мощных локомотивов в мире. Он имеет беспрецедентную мощность – 13120 кВт (в часовом режиме), способен водить тяжеловесные поезда массой до 7100 тонн в условиях сложного природного рельефа Восточного полигона.
На сегодняшний день электровозы 4ЭС5К являются важнейшим элементом реализации Стратегии развития железнодорожного транспорта России в части развития тяжеловесного движения на Байкало-Амурской и Транссибирской магистралях.
