The original Telegram channel has expanded into a web of accounts for different locations, including specific pages made for individual Russian cities. Meanwhile, the company which owns Telegram is registered in the British Virgin Islands. In December 2021, Sebi officials had conducted a search and seizure operation at the premises of certain persons carrying out similar manipulative activities through Telegram channels.
