Валерия Мещерякова закончила СПбГУ в 2023 году. Во время выпускной церемонии они с подругой развернули плакат с портретом журналистки «Новой газеты» Елены Милашиной. Ранее Милашину избили в Чечне, куда она приехала на оглашение приговора Зареме Мусаевой.
На Мещерякову составили протокол по статье об организации несогласованного мероприятия и оставили в отделе на ночь. 1 марта Василеостровский районный суд оштрафовал Мещерякову на 20 тысяч рублей.
